WHO ARE YOU?

Who are you, will you tell me
                how will I know
Where you've come from
               and when you will go

Trust is something
               I am yet to know
And I find myself
               not allowing to let go

Are you real
              or in disguise
Do you carry
              a bag of lies

Are you really
              who you say you are
And will you share
              show me your scar

How deep will we go
              how will it all end
Will our work be complete
              will it end really sweet

If you could erase all your past
start a new life that would last
What one thing would you hold near
that would open your heart from fear

TIMING

Wrote this poem 4 years ago....just came across it.  It made me smile yet made me sad.  Some times we meet someone when there are obstacles in the way.  It is best to move on rather than stay.  This just happened to be one of them.  Sad how many people stay in an unhappy marriage and then meet someone they think is the one for them but timing isn't right.  Every thing worked out just the way it was suppose to....Enjoy

The night air is heavy, the band plays on the patio
The music is cheery and the energy is clearly on go
There is dancing and drinking and merriment galore
Our eyes lock as we gaze at one another across the floor

That twinkle, that knowing, there's someone I'd like to meet
The smile, the laughter and the feelings, oh so sweet
We flirt, we smile as our eyes catch each other's glance
Bravely I motion, meet me on the floor for a dance

We talked a little and danced to the slow song
I asked a few questions but knew her name all along
The night wore on and we danced once more
Holding her gently on that dance floor

Then time came for the evening to end
Our conversation was just about to begin
We talked and we chatted for what seemed like a while
But all I can remember is how I liked her smile

She agreed to meet me and let me take her out
I was excited and had very little doubt
I had met someone I'd really like to know
Our first date seemed to set me aglow

Then as we chatted to know one another
My life situation was now discovered
There is someone else in my life, I can't deny
And my new lady is now telling me goodbye

Timing is everything, we must be on the same page
And to have a special someone when you are this age
Is one thing to wish for and long to be true
It's timing, my darling, she said, "it isn't about you".

IF I SHOULD CLOSE THIS DOOR

If I should close this door
would that be okay with you
If I should close this door
     would the matter be mute

If I should close this door
     will you just walk away
If I should close this door
is there anything left to say

If I should close this door
     and never turn around again
If I should close this door
will you regret not entering in

If I should close this door
a friend I just may lose
If I should close this door
     maybe it's what you'd choose

Her Love

Whimsical in spirit
Free in her soul
Dances in the moonlight
Never going to get old

Sees the world with love eyes
Even when it makes her cry
Yet a wall appears to protect
Her spirit she won't neglect

Letting down the wall of fear
When someone close gets near
Is protection she feels from above
That doesn't support her love

For Michael

I wrote this poem for a man I have never met.  He told me what he wanted in life, the kind of relationship he was looking for.  I find it so interesting how many people want the same thing yet can't find the one they want it with. I have no idea if he ever found her but he liked the poem. Maybe he will share it with her when he does. Hope  you enjoy!

Two hearts joined together in bliss from the night before
Clothes, shoes and rose petals strewn out on the floor
Filtered sun light shines across her delicate face
Wisps of hair lay softly there like eloquent pale lace

She senses that I stare at her and turns to say hello
My heart begins to beat fast, my face is all aglow
She tenderly lays her hand upon my pounding heart
And gently smiles, her eyes twinkle, she's God's work of art

I take her hand in mine and touch softly on her chin
I say "Good morning darling, let's start our days again"
We embrace each other gently, smelling each others scents
And greet another morning that has to be Heaven sent

The crisp smell of coffee begins to linger near
We gently rise to greet the day with elevated cheer
Our days are full and long as we go our separate ways
Evening finds us sharing intimately the events of our days
